Welcome!
pdoug2

I’m Pastor Doug Sewell, of All Saints Community Church in Cortland, Ohio. I want to welcome you to my blog. You can track updates on Twitter. My e-mail address is pastordoug@minhost.org. This blog is NOT an official communication of All Saints Community Church, although I will probably make announcements or commentary from time to time here.

My message is Biblical and positive, focusing on what Jesus Christ taught us, what He did for us, and how He can change our lives and use us. I encourage people to live the Great Commandment (Luke 10:27) and the Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20), and be what God made us to be – his children, ambassadors and representatives in this earth, doing what Jesus did.

I hold the basics of faith as outlined in the Apostle’s Creed. I would generally describe my beliefs as leaning towards “evangelical charismatic”. I believe in the present-day operation of all nine spiritual gifts and the present-day existence of all five ministry offices of Ephesians 4:11 – Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher. My beliefs and theology have been influenced by many, including A. W. Tozer, Bill Johnson (Bethel Church, Redding CA), Bill Hamon (Christian International), Kenneth Copeland, and Kenneth Hagin, among others.

Besides my ministry at All Saints as deacon and now pastor, I have done guest ministry (preaching, teaching and/or prophetic) at other churches and conferences since 2004. Although All Saints has a liturgy-lite worship service, I am comfortable ministering in non-liturical settings, as well.

Background
I have been a member of All Saints almost from its beginning, and served as a deacon for ten years. Rev. Tom Begert-Clark, Pastor Jamie Kaufman and Pastor Rob Henderson all recognized my call to ministry. It was Pastor Rob who recommended I be named associate pastor in November 2007, and we started the process towards my ordination.

In November, 2008, a committee interviewed me, reviewed my ordination paper, and recommended a congregation vote, which was unanimous. I was ordained into ministry on January 4, 2009. After Pastor Rob’s resignation, I served as interim pastor until the congregation voted to call me as their pastor on September 27, 2009 and installed me as Pastor on October 25, 2009.

I also hold ordination with Covenant Network as of July 23, 2011.
